The Beer Pilgrim

A peek at Bergkirchweih – The World’s Oldest Beer Festival

Could this be Germany’s best beer festival?? And no it’s not Munich’s Oktoberfest… It’s the lesser known Bergkirchweih Festival in Erlangen – It’s the world’s oldest beer festival and attracts over a million people over a 12 day period. Having never been to Oktoberfest in Munich I can’t compare but the locals say this one is a much more local experience – what do you think???

Getting There

First you will need to fly to Munich – Swiss Airlines fly return from all major Australian cities to Munich from $1,790.

Once you have arrived there, jump on a train! And don’t forget to stop everywhere on the way! There are more beautiful towns and great little breweries to visit in this region than anywhere else on earth.
